•Application Hints•
BCL-BASECOAT InstructionsThis is our newest technology for the cosmichrome Primer basecoat. BCL-Basecoat has been specially formulated to provide the utmost performance and durability for the cosmichrome application. With this new development you should be able to see the difference as well as compare the final end results as soon as you use it. BCL- basecoat is much more user friendly then any other basecoat out there for this specific application. Spray application with a 1.3 nozzle tip, gravity feed gun HVLP, will give you the finest results. BCL- basecoat will stay wet longer as you spray, allowing you more time to do larger parts and give you no dry spray over areas that have been painted. BCL-basecoat will keep you coatings from creating champagne bubbles that may occur due to environment conditions, once you apply your topcoat. BCL-basecoat has even BETTER adhesion between the metal and basecoat. BCL-Basecoat applies wet and easy leaving you with no orange peel. BCL-basecoat is less sensitive to contamination. BCL-basecoat will dry faster and harder giving you a solvent free film. (Will not fog part after one day) Mix ratios BCL basecoat 100 grams BCL-2 catalyst 10 grams Reducer none Mix for 2 min and spray. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PARTS MUST BE PREPAIRED PRIOR TO APPLIYING THE COSMICHROME BCL BASECOAT. PARTS MUST BE SEALED AND WET SANDED WITH MIN 800 GRIT SAND PAPERS. BCL BASECOAT WILL NOT COVER OR HIDE ANY IMPERFECTIONS ON THE SUBSTRATE. Spray application Adjust the spray gun as follows PSI 29 at the gun, 2 bars Wide fan 2 turns needle open Spray the substrate one wet film cris cross and let stand for 10 min. Spray the second coat after 10 min have expired. Once again wet cost cris cross. If you feel lie the film thickness after 10 min is not thick enough feel free to apply a third coat as mention above. By spraying three coats you will have a thicker film build on your substrate giving you a more brilliant shine and smoothness. Once you are satisfied with you application allow 30 min to dry naturally before introducing to a bake cycle.
BAKING BCL BASECOATAllow primer parts to bake for 1 hour at 140 F or 60 C Allow parts to cool down to room temp for 1 hour (call for higher temperature baking instructions BCL-Basecoat can tolerate baking temperatures as high as 400 F.) Prepare area for metalizing. NATURAL AIR DRY FOR BCL BASECOAT Once you have finished applying your basecoat 2 wet coat or 3 coats. Let stand in a dust free environment (closed room) to dry 12 – 15 hour at room temp. Please note if you have sprayed more then 3 coats of primer allow more dry time 15-18 hours min. Prepare area for metalizing.
Plating Application • The faster the plating is applied the brighter and less likely gold appearing plating will result. Parts should be held so the plating solutions run off quickly to prevent staining. The Cosmichrome™ coating should be dried for 45 to 60 minutes at 95ºF to 100ºF. Humid climates may require the warmer temperature to adequately dry the metal coating. A hair dryer or small fan with a heating element can help dry the moisture out of the plating for those in humid weather conditions. Speed Dry™ will also help force moisture from the plating.
VU-9 TOPCOAT Instructions
VU-9 Topcoat is a special blend that has been formulated just for the Cosmichrome application.
VU-9 is an acrylic urethane topcoat that will give a much harder finish then our previous topcoats as well as excellent adhesion.
Using this new topcoat, you will experience a simple application over the metalized surface as well as a high gloss finish that will cure fast and hard in a shorter period of time.
With no BAKE 24 hour later you can manipulate the finish, wrap and package, as well as install outdoors. You will notice that it is not sensitive to scratches.
VU-9 is Excellent as a final clear coat for out door parts, DO NOT apply any other clear topcoats over VU-9.
VU-9 will cure MUCH faster then our previous topcoats, and leave you with a hard, tough finish to protect the metal.
Excellent UV capabilities, better then most after-market clear topcoats on the market.
VU-9 has a richer gloss and feel once fully cured.
VU-9 applies wet and VERY easy to lay down with no orange peel.
MIXING RATIOS VU-9 TOPCOAT 100 Grams V-9 CATALYST 20 Grams BT-REDUCER 15 Grams Mix for a full 3 minutes before use.
Please note that the metalized part MUST be dry and free from any moisture and water, we suggest that you bake at low temperature 95º to 100ºF / 35 C for 45 to minutes before you spray the topcoat. Any moisture and humidity between the metal and the clearcoat can result in very small moisture bubbles in the topcoat.
SPRAY APPLICATION Adjust the spray gun as follows PSI 29 at the gun, 2 bars Wide open fan Needle valve open 1 turn. (Please note that this will vary on the object size)
Spray the metalized piece with one wet film in a criss-cross pattern to achieve an even thickness. Its better to apply less material on the first coat than too much. Apply the second coat after 10 min have expired, leaving the part with a nice uniform wet shine and even color. If you desire to spray a third coat you can do so after 10 min between coats. You will notice that the VU-9 topcoat will stay tacky for 2 hours, This is normal and allows time for the topcoat to penetrate and adhere down to the basecoat primer. Once satisfied with your application, allow the Topcoat to stand for 30 min before introducing a bake cycle.
BAKING VU-9 TOCOAT Baking the topcoat will accelerate the total hardness. Allow top coated parts to bake for 1 hour at 100º F 40º C This will ONLY speed up the cure time, but the parts will still be somewhat tacky for two hours. Don’t be alarmed if your bake 1 hour is complete and the parts are still tacky, this is normal, once cooled down you will have less tackiness if not any at all. Ship objects that have been complete with the Cosmichrome process 24 hour after the topcoat has been applied. Natural air dry for VU-9 topcoat Once you have applied the two coats of topcoat allow for air circulation to be present in the environment for 30 min. Let the part stand for 12-15 hour to dry for light handling, then over 24 hours to dry enough for shipping. ONCE PARTS ARE FINISHED DO NOT EXPOSE THEM TO THE OUTDOOR SUN LIGHT UNTIL THEY ARE FULLY CURED IN 7 DAYS.
Please note that if you apply more than 3 coats of topcoat, allow more dry time before handling parts shipping or installing.

Selling ceramic tiles as samples for $100.00! If you have some of those tiles, try a cross hatch adhesion test and watch their product peel right off.
